Located on Cayenne island, Cayenne is the capital and chief town and port of Guiana. In some aspects it looks like a small provincial town somewhere in France, but in most ways it is very much a Caribbean town.
Cayenne has quite an interesting musuem, the Musee Departemental de la Francofonie on rue de Remire, it has a good ethnological collection.
The area around the Canal Luassat is known as La Crique and is well worth a visit, although it can be dangerous to venture there on your own.
